What inspired you to pursue a career in accounting and obtain your CPA license?
The flexibility a career in accounting offers was the most influential part of my decision to major in accounting and become a CPA. Accountants have endless career possibilities from public accounting to industry to governmental agencies to nonprofit organizations. Obtaining a CPA license increases those possibilities and brings added value to your work.
What excites you most about working in accounting?
I love that accounting allows me to help individuals, businesses, and organizations grow and thrive. When choosing a career, I was concerned with how accounting can tangibly help people. I have since seen how accounting helps with so many behind-the-scenes activities and details in businesses and organizations. Being able to contribute to a client's success in a small but tangible way is a privilege.
What aspects of your TXCPA/TXCPA East Texas membership do you find most valuable?
TXCPA East Texas has allowed me to meet so many new people including community members, students, and fellow CPAs. Each networking event has been extremely beneficial to my career.
