What inspired you to pursue a career in accounting and obtain your CPA license?
From an early age, I was drawn to the language of business. In high school, I focused most of my electives in the business department, earned multiple certifications, and was honored as the Sterling Scholar in Business and Marketing. That foundation sparked a passion that’s guided my career ever since. I began by supporting my husband’s entrepreneurial ventures—handling the accounting and marketing functions to help his small business grow. That hands-on experience deepened my appreciation for the impact of sound financial strategy and inspired me to pursue my own path in accounting. I earned my CPA license and completed a master’s degree in taxation, which allowed me to specialize in an area I genuinely enjoy. My internships in public accounting provided invaluable experience and helped shape my career direction. Today, I work as a Tax Manager in public accounting, where I help clients navigate complex tax landscapes with clarity and confidence.

What excites you most about working in accounting?
What excites me most about working in accounting is the incredible diversity and dynamic nature of the profession. Accounting isn’t a one-size-fits-all career—it offers a wide range of pathways that allow individuals to align their work with their passions and strengths. Whether it's diving into analytics, advising clients, or navigating regulatory changes, there's always something new to learn and explore. I’m especially energized by how rapidly businesses are evolving. As accountants, we’re not just keeping up—we’re adapting, innovating, and growing alongside them. That constant need to stay sharp, expand our expertise, and deliver meaningful value is what drives me. It’s a profession that challenges you to be your best, and that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding.

What aspects of your TXCPA/TXCPA East Texas membership do you find most valuable?
The most valuable aspect of my TXCPA membership is the consistent growth and support it provides. As an accounting professional, I rely on TXCPA to offer high-quality, relevant CPE that keeps me technically sharp and continuously learning. Beyond education, TXCPA creates meaningful opportunities to connect with others in the profession—whether it's expanding my network, sharing ideas, or building lasting relationships. I also deeply appreciate TXCPA’s commitment to the future of our field. Their investment in young professionals—through mentorship, guidance, and resources to help them become licensed and thrive—is a testament to the organization’s dedication to shaping a strong, vibrant accounting community.
