TXCPA Permian Basin recognized Larry Edgerton, CPA, as the 2022-23 Mary Alice Tidwell Service Award winner at the chapter’s annual meeting on January 12.   

The Mary Alice Tidwell Service Award recognizes a TXCPA Permian Basin member who has distinguished himself/herself in the local community, TXCPA Permian Basin and the CPA profession. This award is based on contributions to charitable, community and/or civic activities; and the encouragement of other CPAs to actively participate, make substantial contributions to and become leaders in their communities, the chapter and the profession.   

Larry has been a licensed CPA and TXCPA member for more than 40 years. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Texas State University in 1978 and moved to Midland in 1980. Larry recently retired from Weaver after more than 40 years in public accounting in the Permian Basin.  

Larry has held numerous leadership positions within the AICPA and TXCPA. Having served as the past chairman of TXCPA, he now serves a lifetime appointment to the board of directors. He has served on the board of directors for the American Cancer Society, Texas Lyceum Association, Permian Basin Petroleum Association, Permian Basin Area Foundation, Midland County Hospital District, Permian Basin Community Centers for MHMR and the Midland Country Club. He has also served on the UTPB School of Business Advisory Council, the Texas State University Department of Accounting Professional Advisory Council and the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. Larry has served in various roles within other community and civic organizations.
