I’m a member of TXCPA Austin because it feels like a community of “my people”—professionals who understand the work, the challenges, and the responsibility that come with being a CPA. There is something energizing about meeting another CPA; you immediately have common ground, shared experiences, and a mutual respect for the path it takes to get here. TXCPA Austin creates more of those moments, and that is something I really value.
Early in my career, people in the CPA community opened doors for me. I received a scholarship while I was in school, and I landed my first internship through someone I met in a professional CPA organization. Those experiences helped me understand that this profession could work for me, that I belonged in it, and that it was worth investing in. Because of that, I care about giving back, especially when it comes to helping students and young professionals find opportunities of their own.
The membership value is easy to appreciate: quality CPE, meaningful networking, and opportunities to build relationships that go beyond a single event. During a time when the profession continues to evolve and many of us are navigating change, having a strong local network matters even more. I also value that TXCPA works with elected officials and policymakers to strengthen and protect the CPA profession, ensuring our voices are heard on issues that affect our work, our clients, and the future of the profession. I joined TXCPA Austin because, as the owner of a CPA firm, I wanted access to meaningful resources that would help me continue growing professionally and better serve my clients.
