Scholarships

The Corpus Christi Chapter of TXCPA (TXCPA CC) established a scholarship program whose purpose is to provide scholarship assistance to accounting students who plan to become Certified Public Accountants and enter the accounting profession.   To be considered for a TXCPA CC scholarship, a student must:

  • Be an undergraduate or graduate accounting major attending a university in the Corpus Christi Chapter area where classes are approved by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, OR a student at Del Mar College, with the intent of becoming a Certified Public Accountant and entering the accounting profession upon graduation.
  • Accounting GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Be a student member of TXCPA. Membership for students is free.

Scholarships of $250 - $1,000 will be awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee based on applicant’s qualifications.  Checks will be made payable to the college/university for the benefit of the student and sent to the college/university in late December 2023 to be applied for the spring 2024 semester.

The scholarship application process is now closed. We will re-open the applications in the summer of 2024 for spring 2025 scholarships.

TXCPA CC and the Scholarship Committee reserve the right to refrain from awarding scholarships in the event applicants do not meet the desired qualifications.

Students receiving awards are expected to participate in chapter activities/events when possible. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Student Involvement Opportunities

Local Networking

All members are welcome to participate in Chapter networking activities. Our local Meet the CPAs event is the perfect place to begin learning about the CPA profession.

Mentor Program

TXCPA Corpus Christi is committed to serving our students and young CPA members. We have created a fantastic mentorship program designed to unite students studying to become a CPA or young CPAs just beginning their careers with seasoned CPA professionals to help guide them and give them career advice.

As a mentee, you will be paired with a mentor for the fall and spring semester. The group will meet periodically virtually, and mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet in-person regularly. Virtual meetings will be over Zoom, and we will have guests come to speak to the group on various topics related to becoming a CPA, studying for the exam, careers in accounting, etc. We will also schedule a few in-person meetings for the group, and highly recommend mentees and mentors finding time to meet outside of the scheduled meetings.
