TXCPA Houston has 30 committees that members can participate in. Volunteers benefit through networking with their peers, contributing to the success of the organization, and building skills in public speaking, event coordination, and leadership. Committee terms are for one year, beginning June 1 – May 31; however, members can join at any time. You must be a member to volunteer for committees. You may be a CPA, CPA-Candidate, Student, or affiliate member. More information is available at www.tscpa.org.

TXCPA Houston Committees:
Accounting and Auditing
The committee is responsible for planning the Financial Reporting Symposium held each Spring. This one day conference brings in top panelists from FASB, SEC,
and other top organizations to answer questions regarding financial reporting.
Time Commitment: Approximately four one-hour meetings a year and then assist onsite the day of the conference.

Accounting Scholarship Endowment
The committee is responsible for developing ongoing initiatives
to help build the Endowment which will provide a self-sustaining resource for scholarships in the future.
Time Commitment: Approximately 4-6 meetings per year and time spent fundraising.

Accounting Scholarships
The committee is responsible for reviewing scholarship applications and selecting recipients on an annual basis.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 meetings per year and 3-4 hours to review applications.

Audit
The committee is responsible for engaging a CPA firm to audit TXCPA Houston and the Foundation each year and reports the results of the audit to the Board of Directors.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 meetings per year.
Members of this committee are appointed by the Board of Directors.

Business and Industry
The committee is responsible for coordinating speaker and sponsors for the Spring Accounting Expo which is the largest conference of the year. The group is also responsible for identifying the needs of members in business and industry and proposing
ideas for how to address those needs.
Time Commitment: Quarterly meetings and onsite assistance at the Spring Accounting Expo.

Circular 230 Practitioners Roundtable
The committee develops and maintains alliances with federal, state, and local taxing agencies, provides an opportunity
for members to express practitioner positions, resolves issues, and initiates a collaborative effort between all parties involved.
Time commitment: Bi-monthly meetings approximately 2 hours long.

CFO/Controller Conference
The group is responsible for coordinating the CFO/Controllers Conference
held in the Fall of each year.
Time Commitment: Approximately 4-5 one-hour meetings per year.

CPAs Helping Schools
The committee is responsible for reviewing grant applications and selecting recipients for funds to chapter area K-12 schools. The group also speaks to students
throughout the year to encourage them to pursue a career in accounting.
Time commitment: Meets monthly in the evenings August through May, distributes checks to schools, and time for speaking engagements.

CPE
The committee sets all policies relative to CPE conducted by TXCPA Houston and assists with screening relevant
topics as needed.
Time commitment: Approximately 6 meetings per year

CPE by the Sea
In partnership with TSCPA, assists with coordinating a 3-day conference in Galveston.
Time commitment: Meets 2 times a year and assist onsite for
3 days in Galveston.

Energy
The committee is responsible for coordinating topics, speakers, and sponsors for a one day conference held in August of each year.
Time commitment: Meets monthly for one-hour, assists with reaching out to sponsors and speakers,
and assists onsite the day of the conference.

Finance Committee
The committee is responsible for reviewing the annual budget prior to it going to the Executive Committee and Board.
Time commitment: 1 annual meeting. Committee members are appointed
by the Board of Directors.

Forensic and Valuation Services
The
committee is responsible for developing CPE, content, and other information informing members of current issues related to forensic and valuation services.
Time commitment: 4-6 meetings per year

Healthcare
The committee is responsible for coordinating the annual Healthcare Conference.
Time commitment: Quarterly meetings

Investments
The committee is responsible for reviewing the investment portfolio and making sure it adheres to the investment policy of TXCPA Houston.
Time commitment: Meets quarterly

Information Technology
The committee is responsible for overseeing the direction of the internal technology being used and ensures we are meeting the strategic needs
of our members through its implementation.
Time commitment: Meets 4-6 times a year

Membership Development
Assists with recruitment and retention of members within TXCPA Houston coordinates networking events, reviews member benefits, and discusses
ideas of how to grow engagement among members.
Time commitment: Meets approximately 6-8 times a year, assist for half-day with the phone bank, and attend networking events.

Nominations
The committee is responsible for selecting a slate of nominees to present at the Annual Meeting of Members for the Executive Committee and Board members.
Time Commitment: 2-3 two hour meetings per year

Northwest Houston Roundtable
The committee is responsible for planning CPE programs for members in the Northwest suburbs of Houston.
Time Commitment: Approximately 8-10 meetings per year

PAC Steering
The committee is responsible for PAC fundraising, administering
the key person program in the Houston area, and stimulating interests in political affairs.
Time commitment: 4-5 meetings per year, plus check delivery and fundraising. The committee is appointed in accordance with guidelines
in the bylaws.

Personal Financial Planning
The committee is responsible
for planning the Personal Financial Planning conference held each Fall.
Time commitment: 5-6 meetings per year and assist onsite the day of the conference

Personnel
The committee is responsible for personnel matters in regards to compensation, personnel policies
and benefits, and evaluation of the executive director.
Time commitment: 2-3 meetings annually. Committee members are appointed per policy.

Public Affairs
The committee is responsible for coordinating programs that promote the needs within the community as it relates to public affairs.
Time commitment: 2-3 meetings annually

Scholarship Extravaganza
The committee helps coordinate and fundraises for the annual Scholarship
Extravaganza.
Time commitment: 5-6 meetings annually plus time spent fundraising

Strategic Planning
The committee focuses on long-range strategic goals for the Society.
Time commitment: 3-5 meetings annually

Student Auxiliary Steering Committee
The committee assists the student officers with planning monthly career panels and social events.

Tax Expo
The committee
coordinates the annual two-day conference selecting topics and speakers as well as finding sponsors.
Time commitment: 2 meetings per year plus time contacting speakers and sponsors

Young Professionals
The committee plans several networking events and a
conference geared towards young professionals under the age of 40.
Time commitment: 4-6 meetings per year plus on-site assistance at the conference
