Bonus CPE Session: Comparing Today’s Top AI Tools for Accountants: Real World Testing Results

8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Not all AI tools are created equal and using the wrong one for the wrong task can cost you time, create professional liability, or both. This session cuts through the marketing noise with real test results: five major AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and Gemini) evaluated using identical prompts across 15 accounting and finance tasks organized into six professional workflows. Both free and paid versions were tested against one straightforward standard: would we actually use this output in practice? This session serves as the foundation for a comprehensive series of practical AI and Microsoft 365 courses designed specifically for accounting professionals. Whether you are just getting started with AI or looking to sharpen your approach, this is the right place to begin.

CPE: 2 hours
Presenters
: Tracie Miller, PhD, CPA & Wendy Tietz, PhD, CPA

Designed for: CPAs and accounting professionals in public accounting, industry, nonprofit and governmental settings. No prior AI experience required.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the five major AI tools and their primary strengths and limitations for accounting work
  • Select the appropriate AI tool for a given accounting task based on the nature of the work, the required output, and the data involved
  • Recognize patterns of AI failure, including the free vs. paid decision, and apply professional skepticism
  • Apply a structured methodology to evaluate AI tool output before relying on it professionally
  • Develop effective prompts to get higher-quality, more reliable output from AI tools
  • Develop a practical, low-risk AI adoption plan for your firm, team, or organization

Annual Meeting of Members and Leadership Council Meeting

Keynote: Voice > Echo: Leadership, Credibility, and the CFO’s Expanding Role

1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

As organizations grow more complex, the CFO’s role is shifting from back-office execution to front-stage influence. The distinction comes down to communication, whether leaders echo information or use their voice to shape understanding, alignment and trust. Credibility takes shape through clarity, sequencing and ownership...not volume or authority. Explore how to operate as a translator between vision, execution and accountability, as well as how to communicate financial insight in ways that prompt action rather than confusion. Leave with practical approaches to strengthen leadership presence, navigate the tension between strategy and execution, and communicate with purpose to build alignment and trust across the organization.

CPE: 1.5 hours
