TXCPA Opposition to IRS OPR-RPO Consolidation

In a letter to the IRS, TXCPA opposed the merger of the Office of Professional Responsibility and the Return Preparer Office, saying it risks blurring the line between licensed and unlicensed preparers. TXCPA urged keeping the offices independent.

I would love to tell you a story about finding a passion for helping business owners or saving people money on their tax returns. The honest truth is I realized being a CPA was going to give me a job forever and help me build the lifestyle I wanted. I enjoy travel, fancy restaurants, and good wine. Being a CPA has given me a path to that. Along the way I have certainly enjoyed helping people (I'm not a monster y'all), but its not the actual WHY that drove my choice.

I was excited to get involved in my local chapter and give back to the community. I actively participated in events and the chapter followed up with lots of opportunities for me to serve and lead.
