As you’ll see throughout this issue of Today’s CPA, the strength of our profession is built on connection. Whether it’s sharing knowledge, recognizing achievements, advocating for sound policy or mentoring the next generation, the relationships we foster today will help shape the future of accounting in Texas.
That theme is especially evident in our cover story, “Mentorship Matters: Building Stronger Careers Through Connection.” Mentorship has long been one of the profession’s most valuable traditions. It helps emerging professionals navigate challenges, develop confidence and discover opportunities they may have never considered. Just as importantly, it enables experienced CPAs to give back and leave a lasting impact on the profession.
At TXCPA, we know that mentorship is only one part of a larger effort to secure the future of the CPA pipeline. Through our Talent and Workforce Development initiatives, we are working with educators, volunteers, employers, and our chapters to increase awareness of accounting careers and help students see a clear path to becoming a CPA. Our goal is ambitious but essential: to reach 16,000 Texas students in 2026-2027 through meaningful exposure to the profession. These statewide efforts are designed to build awareness early, expand opportunities and strengthen the talent pipeline for years to come.
This issue also highlights the many ways TXCPA members are making a difference. You’ll find recognition of outstanding volunteer leadership and member engagement in our Outstanding Chapter Awards, and a look at the activities and accomplishments taking place in communities across the state in What’s Happening Around Texas.
You’ll also find an update on the alternative pathway to CPA licensure and a look ahead to the next Texas legislative session in our Government Affairs article, along with a recap of TXCPA’s Annual Meeting of Members, where we celebrated accomplishments, recognized leadership, and continued important conversations about the future of our organization and profession.
