TXCPA Houston 2021-2022 Significant Contribution by a Member in Education

Jan began consulting in January 2021 as the Academic in Residence and Senior Director of Academic and Student Engagement at AICPA, assuming the role full-time in July 2021. She retired as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, Texas), where she taught both undergraduate and graduate students. She spent several years in public practice, serving as Controller/CFO of a wealth management firm. Jan is Past-President of the International Board of Directors of Beta Alpha Psi. Before employment with AICPA, Jan served on the AICPA Board of Examiners, AICPA Academic Executive Committee, the AICPA/NASBA CPA Evolution Education Advisory Group, the AICPA Women’s Executive Initiative Task Force, the AICPA Engage Academic/Practitioner Program (Chair 2019-2020). She has also served on many committees with TXCPA and TXCPA Houston and as a trustee with the TXCPA Accounting Education Foundation. Jan is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in protective services. She has received numerous awards for teaching and research as well as service to the profession of accountancy.
