​Fitts, Roberts, Kolkhorst & Co., P.C. Announces New Managing Shareholder Kelly Hunter

Fitts, Roberts, Kolkhorst & Co., P.C. (FRK) is pleased to announce that Kelly J. Hunter, CPA was named President and Managing Shareholder and will assume that role effective October 1, 2021. Kelly has served the firm as an assurance shareholder for over 14 years, and he is succeeding Ron Lemer, CPA, in the Managing Shareholder role.

As Managing Shareholder, Kelly will oversee the day-to-day management of FRK, including all aspects of the firm’s operations and strategic initiatives.

“I am truly honored to serve as FRK’s next Managing Shareholder, and look forward to our continued growth and success” said Kelly. “During Ron Lemer’s tenure as Managing Shareholder, the firm completed its acquisition of the firm Kolkhorst & Kolkhorst CPAs and the Cummings & Houston, LLP client base. The firm gained talented professionals and an impressive list of clients as a result of these acquisitions. I look forward to continuing the integration process of these practices and collaborating with the shareholder group to further develop the firm in service to our clients and community. I have big shoes to fill of those who came before me in this role, by working alongside them for these past 22 years they have provided unbelievable mentorship that helped prepare me to step into this position.”

Kelly has built his career on honest, valuable, and timely service. One of his core priorities as Managing Shareholder is growth, development and retention of our most valuable assets, our people, in order to ensure continued career growth and overall satisfaction by all team members which will better serve the firm’s client base and community as well as the overall sustainability of the firm.

Kelly, who joined FRK in 1999 and became an assurance shareholder in 2007, has more than 22 years of experience working with multiple industries including manufacturing, construction, not-for-profit, governmental, employee benefit plans and other for-profit industries. His straightforward thinking and strong work ethic help him create long-lasting relationships with the clients he serves. Kelly is also very active in the TXCPA where he serves on the board of directors and as the chair of the CPE Advisory Board and TXCPA Houston where he serves as the President. He is also very active in the AICPA where he recently completed his 3 year term on the Professional Ethics Executive Committee (PEEC) and prior to that his 3 year term on the Accounting and Review Services Committee (ARSC). Kelly received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southwest Texas State University. He currently resides in Pearland with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter Emily. He is a member of the Friendswood Methodist Church where he currently serves as the chairman of the board of stewards.

Founded in 1964, FRK provides accounting and consulting services to clients throughout Texas, the United States, and internationally. FRK is an independently owned member of the RSM US Alliance. The firm has a staff of more than 60 employees, which includes 10 full-time shareholders.
