Promoting Accounting for STEM Curriculum

The Texas Society of CPAs joins AICPA and other state CPA societies in asking lawmakers to co-sponsor H.R. 3855, the Accounting STEM Pursuit Act.

This bill would amend the Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant program to promote career awareness in accounting as part of a well-rounded and valuable STEM – science, technology, engineering and math curricula – educational experience.

Officially recognizing accounting as a STEM curriculum would increase student engagement with the accounting profession and promote diversity in the accounting workforce. See background information.
