5 Roles, 1 Passion: The Many Hats of Madhuri Bandla
Madhuri Bandla is more than an accounting educator – she’s a mentor, a leader, a lifelong learner and a passionate advocate for the profession. Her story is one of impact, purpose and unwavering dedication to the next generation of CPAs.
1. The Educator: Turning Numbers into Narratives
As a Senior Lecturer at UNT’s G. Brint Ryan College of Business, Madhuri transforms accounting into a dynamic, story-driven experience. Her passion for the subject was sparked in Chennai, India, where the logic of debits and credits felt like second nature.
“Accounting is storytelling with numbers,” she explains – a perspective that resonates in every class she teaches.
2. The Mentor: Investing in People, Not Just Lessons
For Madhuri, the classroom is just the beginning. She’s deeply invested in her students’ success – personally and professionally. From guiding them through the CPA licensure process to connecting them with mentors in the field, she believes real teaching goes far beyond textbooks.
“Helping others succeed is the most meaningful kind of success,” she says.
3. The Professional: Real-World Insight, Real-World Impact
Madhuri’s academic influence is grounded in hands-on experience. She spent years in audit and corporate finance, eventually becoming AVP of Financial Reporting at a public company. That journey, made possible by her CPA license, now influences how she prepares students for the challenges of a modern accounting career.
4. The Volunteer: Leading with Service
Madhuri doesn’t wait for a title to lead – she leads by giving back. Whether volunteering with TXCPA and AICPA, mentoring future professionals, or speaking at local schools, she’s committed to building stronger communities.
“You don’t need a title to serve,” she says. “Just a willingness to give your time and talents.”
5. The Lifelong Learner: Always Growing, Always Giving
Currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business at Penn State, Madhuri continues to challenge herself – academically and personally. She finds balance through yoga and Indian classical dance and enjoys exploring DFW’s vibrant food scene. Her example encourages students and peers to never stop learning – and to enjoy the journey.
Final Thought:
“Success in accounting is attainable. Find your niche, earn your CPA license and stay open to where the journey leads.”
